How do I place a catering order?

If you’d like help curating a menu to fit your party, email management@sprigandsproutdc.com. We ask for 48 hours advance notice, but please contact us as we may be able to fill small orders more quickly.

Can I purchase your proteins in bulk?

Yes! Just email management@sprigandsproutdc.com and let us know whether you’d like us to cook them or keep them raw in their marinade. We vac seal all proteins, and you can store them for up to 6 months in the freezer! Sold by the pound, 2lb minimum.

Can I purchase eggrolls uncooked?

Yes! Just email management@sprigandsproutdc.com for an order! Eggrolls will be vac sealed and can be kept frozen for up to 6 months. Sold in packs of 20 rolls. Cooking directions included.

Can I purchase your broth in bulk?

Yes! Just email management@sprigandsproutdc.com and tell us your needs and we’ll find a solution for you. Our broths can be easily frozen for future use.

What is your Food waste Program?

In an effort to cut down on food waste we’ve partnered with Too Good To Go. At the end of the night, any orders not picked up and any unsold food get packaged up and distributed to TGTG users.

Can I make special requests for my Too Good To Go bags?

The TGTG bags are surprise bags and special requests cannot be made. This program is meant to rescue extra food that would normally have been thrown away at the end of the night. 

The costs of the TGTG bags only cover the costs of the food and packaging. This program is not profit driven and is a step in negating our environmental impact.

I’m missing an item from my order!

Oh no, we are so sorry! Please email management@sprigandsproutdc.com  with the date of the issue, the name the order was placed under and what was missing and we will happily refund or credit your account.

Why are you more expensive on Uber/Doordash?

The 3rd party companies charge a large commission and we must inflate our prices to afford to be on their platforms. It is always better to order directly through the restaurant if possible. We also send promotions and deals if you’re on our email list! You can also sign up here and earn rewards when you order through us!

I accidentally ordered for pickup instead of delivery!

No worries! If you ordered through us (Toasttab) please place a new order to dispatch a driver. Once we receive the replicated delivery order, we will automatically void the pickup order and issue a refund. If you would like us to email you a refund receipt you can email management@sprigandsproutdc.com or call 202-333-2569 and leave a message with the incorrect pickup order number and your name.

My order was dropped off but they gave me someone else’s order!

Oh no! We are sorry the driver switched your bag. The fastest way to get a new order is to place another order. Email management@sprigandsproutdc.com with a picture of the incorrect ORDER TICKET and your information and we will reach out in 24-48 hours with a refund or credit for the incorrect order.

Can I walk in and do the Pho Challenge?

Our challenge bowl is currently paused. We will make announcements when the challenge resumes. We ask for 24 hours advance notice to get the bowl ready for ya!

I’m vegetarian, can I still do the Pho Challenge?

Absolutely and we have had vegetarian winners! Instead of meat you’ll get 4lbs of assorted veggies and of course our Burdock root broth!

How do I find the vegetarian/vegan menu?

Is your Honey Hoisin Seitan vegan?

Yes! We use a vegan alternative and not actual bee honey.

What sauces are vegetarian/vegan?

All our sauces are vegetarian/vegan EXCEPT for Sprig and Sprout sauce (traditional Vietnamese nuoc mam cham which contains fish sauce) and our Viet Citrus Vinaigrette which also contains fish sauce

Where do your vegan options come from?

Most of our options are made on site by our staff. We also partner with a local all-female Buddhist temple to source our Veggie Eggrolls and Viet BBQ Seitan. While we can make these options in-house, we are able to serve the Temple with a stable income stream that allows them to provide their services. They are no longer solely dependent on unpredictable donations, and have been able to grow significantly. How do I find the Gluten Free menu?

What sauces are gluten free?

All our sauces are gluten free EXCEPT for peanut sauce. It contains hoisin sauce which contains trace amounts of wheat.

Are rice noodles gluten free?

Yes, all our noodles (pho and vermicelli) are gluten free. Check out our Gluten free drop-down menu on our online ordering page!

I’m allergic to garlic, what is safe for me?

Unfortunately garlic is an allergy we cannot accommodate. All our bases, sauces, broths and marinades contain garlic.

I’m allergic to onions, what is safe for me?

If your allergy is to raw onions, you can choose to omit them when you are ordering. If your allergy is to cooked onions, we unfortunately cannot remove them as they are cooked into our marinades and stocks.

I’m allergic to Peanuts, what is safe for me?

Depending on the severity of your allergy please note that cross contact can happen as we do keep peanuts and peanut butter on site. 

Items that include peanuts:

  • Peanut Sauce
  • Vermicelli bowl (can be omitted). 

We do NOT use peanut oil.

I’m allergic to Sesame, what is safe for me?

Depending on the severity of your allergy please note that cross contact can happen as we do keep sesame oil and seeds on site.

What oils do you use?

We use Soybean Oil, Shortening, and Sesame Oil.

Do you fry everything in the same fryer?

Yes, all our fry items share the same oil. If your allergy is severe we do not recommend ordering any items from the fryer.

How do I reheat my take-out Pho?

So glad you asked! We’ve included instructions on the bag, but here’s a fun video on “How to Reheat Pho like a Boss”.

How do I reheat leftover fried rice?

Just a little sprinkle of water will do ya! Drizzle 1 or 2 tablespoons of water over the fried rice, cover and microwave. The time will depend on how much you have leftover, but start in 30 second increments. Flip/toss/stir and microwave for another 30 seconds. Repeat until it’s as hot as you like it!

What’s the right way to eat Pho?

The way you enjoy it most! Even amongst members of the same family you’ll see personal preferences all around the table. Our suggestion? Try it different ways and see what fits you!

  1. Keep the raw onions on the side so you get the cold bit of onions with the warm slurpy noodles.
  2. Mix hoisin, sriracha, and a few squeezes of lime into a dipping bowl (add jalapenos if you can take the spice). Use this to dip your meat pieces instead of squeezing sauces into your bowl.
  3. Try different combinations of toppings to get different textures. Open the door and try something new!

Why is Eye of Round served raw?

Traditionally Vietnamese people love this lean cut of meat sliced super thin and raw. It is amazingly tender when cooked ever so quickly by the hot broth. 

The Viet Way: Ask for it on the side so that it doesn’t sit in the broth for too long and get overcooked.

What is Skirt Flank?

A beloved but extremely tough and gristly cut from a cow. It is commonly used in Asian dishes and requires a long cook time. While not a well-known American cut, it is highly prized among Asian cuisines for its chewy characteristics. Not to be confused with flank or skirt steak!

The Viet Way: A bit of skirt flank, a bit of eye of round, tripe and Viet meatballs gives your bowl great texture and flavor.

What is Tripe?

Yes it’s true, tripe is the edible stomach lining of the cow and loved for its chewy calamari like texture. While today we readily discard parts we don’t want, back in the day all cultures used everything they could and found amazing recipes to respect the life the animal had given.

Why is your beef bone broth so special?

From beginning to end it takes 48 hours to develop the deep flavor of our Pho broth. We roast ALOT of bones and simmer them overnight. Then we add meat to pump up the beefiness of our stock. A little bit of sugar, salt and a whole lotta spices. That’s it. No bouillon cubes here people.

The Viet Way: Ask for “Nuoc Beo” and add it to your bowl. We skim all the fat from our broth to make our bowls healthier, but the fat is also where all the meaty flavor is. Try it the Viet way and see for yourself!

What kind of bones are best for Pho?

Beef Knuckle. It’s the bee’s knees! Well technically it’s the cow’s knees but it’s full of marrow and cartilage which is full of good nutrients that happen to be tasty too.

Why do you recommend take-out broth to be cold?

Physics. Hot broth just doesn’t stay hot in a plastic or wax cardboard container. Lids must have holes to let the steam out, and plastic lids are never as secure once the steam “softens” it, so leaks and spills happen. And by the time you get home, you have to rewarm the broth anyways. We find that most people prefer to take the broth home cold and secured. But of course, you can still choose hot broth for take-out!

What is Burdock Root?

An ingredient in our Veggie broth, this root of the Burdock plant has been used for centuries in holistic medicine and commonly used in Chinese medicines. Recent researchers have discovered numerous potential benefits of burdock root. It’s a powerhouse of antioxidants and a toxin remover!

What is White Tremella Mushrooms?

Also known as Snow Fungus, this white to pale yellow mushroom that looks like underwater coral is commonly grown in Asia and hailed in Chinese medicines for its health, anti-inflammatory, and longevity benefit.

What is the difference between Bean Curd and Tofu?

Bean curd, also known as tofu skin, or yuba, is a product of boiled soybeans. While simmering, a film or “skin” forms on the liquid surface which is then skimmed and dried. You’ll find bean curd sheets on dim sum and sushi menus, but here we go the crunchy route. Ours is seasoned and fried! As a surprising treat, try it in your pho bowl. Adds a beautiful crunch to those slippery chewy rice noodles. 

Tofu is made from soybeans that are ground in water, heated and pressed. Tofu uses a coagulant to hold it’s form

What is your Sate made from?

We make our sate from all fresh ingredients. Lemongrass, galangal, a combination of seasonal spicy chili peppers, garlic and onions. It’s made to spice up your Pho bowl, but we’ve learned that you can put this flavor bomb on anything!

What makes your 5-spice special?

A proprietary blend that comes from our family’s apothecary in Vietnam, specially formulated and ground in small batches just for us. We have different family members smuggling it into the country. Haha, just kidding customs agents.

What are the meats in the Deli Combo Banh Mi

This is the OG Banh Mi and commonly known to Vietnamese as “Dac Biet” (literally means “the special”). A combination of headcheese, ham, Vietnamese Cha Lua (steamed pork roll), and pate. A few hundred years ago we took French charcuterie, stuffed it into a baguette and amped it up with our herbs and pickles.

What is Pate?

Our pate is ground and seasoned spread of pork liver. It automatically comes on our Deli Combo, but for those who love it, you can add it to any banh mi that suits your fancy.

While today’s culture is weary of gluten, seitan is a vital wheat gluten that Buddhist monks have been eating for 1500 years. For those who don’t have gluten issues, this alternative is both high in protein and low in carbs.
